John Herlihy

Due diligence he gave his daily work,

The fruits of wisdom in life’s harvest.

His faith and nobility a constant perk,

To overcome hardship in life’s quest.

Seeking perfection in each little part,

A product of reliable common sense.

He raised his every effort to a fine art,

Solid, endurable, with nary a pretense.

From sunrise to sunset just on the run,

Fill the day’s hours with time to spare.

He always slept soundly with day done,

The sleep of the innocent with no care.

Finished work he considered his prize,

How else can our towered cities arise?
