-- The Secrets of Eternity --
By John Herlihy
What is the second but a moment passing,
What are moments bit the minutes amassing.
What are the minutes but the hours passing,
What are the hours but a day amassing.
What are the days but the months passing,
What are the months but the years amassing.
What are the years but the seasons passing,
What are the seasons but a life amassing.
What is springtime amid the seasons,
But the renewal of life with all its reasons.
What is the summertime amid the seasons,
But the overflowing of life with all its reasons.
What is the autumntime amid the seasons,
But the return to earth with all its reasons.
What is the wintertime amid the seasons,
But the season of death amid all its reasons.
What is time but a bird that forever flies,
Here below on earth, but never in open skies.
What is time but an arrow that seeks its mark,
To warm the heart of humanity with its spark.
What is time but a moment that never waits,
Always on the move forward, never hesitates.
What is time but an envelope of existing reality,
Whose messages whisper the secrets of eternity.
