-- Such Dreams Never Dreamt -–
John Herlihy
I dare not think of all the wasted hours I’ve spent,
Nor do I often ponder any dreams never dreamt.
But today, I think I am going to make an exception,
Today as good as any day to seek timely perception.
Our dreams often take hold by the minute or hour,
Each one of them, precious and potent with power.
Dreams of sweet longing and dreams of sad regret,
Dreams of loved ones passed away we never forget.
Each of our dreams seems to possess a certain right,
Dreams that are ours to preserve in our own true light.
Now I need to embark on dreams I have never dreamt,
Dreams to come upon me, I know not what they meant.
To pass on a hot wind through a forest of flaming fire,
To ford majestic rivers of light that feed a surging desire,
To climb airy clouds to reach snow-clad mountain peaks,
To soar as an eagle across the grasses of Russian steppes
To bathe in the pristine waters of a bubbling glacial spring,
To traverse star galaxies of outer space as planets sing.
Each dream a crossing over that took thousands of years,
Though it seems only the blink of an eye filled with hot tears.
Now I know what it may mean for the soul to quit the body,
To stand on the ramparts of the earth, at one with everybody.
Two angels descend to lift me aloft, as we make the ascent,
To find myself in the reality of a dream never before dreamt.

It's been long
So much of drill.
When a prose/travel writer becomes a poet. It makes for writing at its best. This I can say with great conviction as an ardent student of literature forever I remain. Learning enjoying every piece of work I get to see andcread. John you r indeed a wonderful find. We are happy to have you amongst us. Thank you. Keep dreaming. Miles to Go before we.....! Thanks
