-- The End of the Night --

John Herlihy

The journey to the end of the night

Takes a path along a darkened way.

Dreams appear as mere specks of light

That offer little remembrance of the day.

Thru pitch darkness we do blindly roam,

Wandering ever so lost in this alien home.

A fabric of fears make themselves known,

From all those trials and tribulations sewn.

Night seems endless that we cannot escape,

As if bleak darkness we ourselves did make.

Until mercy arrives as we slip down a funnel,

In the distance a light at the end of a tunnel.

Never did we think to see an end to the night,

There in the distance lies the everlasting light.

IF ONE CONSIDERS THE IMMENSE BRIGHTNESS OF THE ETERNAL EVERLASTING LIGHT THAT AWAITS US...OUR WALK/JOURNEY DOWN HERE WOULD SEEM TO BE IN...THE UTMOST DARKNESS OF NIGHT. FOR, WHEREIN WE NEED THE SUN AND MOON AS LIGHT DOWN HERE, IT IS PROMISED THAT THERE WILL BE NO NEED FOR EITHER, UP THERE...OUR NIGHT WILL END FOREVER! WELL DONE AND ENJOYED . LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Your words remind me of some dreams I've had that I have awakened from shaking from the fear I experienced in those dreams but then, on the other hand, I have had dreams I did not want to wake up from........good ones, John!! Very cool poem!!

Love ya!

The dark is a dangerous place for many and our dreams can bring us peace or they can bring us terror. Is it any wonder that many of us dread the night and the uncertainty of what it might hold for us? Perhaps it's a good thing that we can't remember most of what our mind parades before and through us while we sleep. Surely we would go mad if we did.

A frank poetic view of that enigmatic part of of lives called nocturnal dreams. It is indeed a mystery, and at times, a frightening experience. I enjoyed the way you phrased this with an eye for allowing the reader to reflect on his or her own experience.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
