-- My Silent World --
John Herlihy
My silent world is a quiet thing,
The silence heard mysteries bring.
The body like a house that speaks,
Quiet as a mouse as the floor creaks.
The head famous for incessant noise,
But the heart, ah the heart, its poise.
I feel a steady beating of my heart,
Noise never breaks the silence apart.
Filled to the brim with love and sorrow,
The heart will still be there tomorrow.
A faithful friend if there ever was one,
There, always beating, into my life spun.
I value the mystery the heart brings,
Ever silent, but somehow the heart sings.
