-- The Enigma of Time and Eternity --
John Herlihy
We speak of the here and now,
And we know what it means.
We also speak of the hereafter,
We only guess what it seems.
We could speak of the here-afore,
Wondering what life has in store.
Never here both yesterday, tomorrow,
The day itself passes quickly on borrow.
Only the present moment seems eternal,
Passing as moments of the day diurnal.
Tomorrow looms with aspirations of hope,
Yesterday leaves us at the end of a rope.
The only reality the truth that never ends,
The One Eternal Reality that never pretends.

And I'm also immersed in new discoveries made every day about the nature of our universe and how it has been forming for billions of years.
That doesn't leave much time to spend on wild theories about human belief and superstition. I look at us as still rather primitive beings, acting on impulses and ideas that have long been proven wrong. Children when we need to grow up and face all the problems we are creating for ourselves.
