-- Capturing Moments –
John Herlihy
We now experience the world at one remove,
A new way of witnessing in our own groove.
Cherry blossoms send spring fragrance in the air.
The sun still shines; but no one seems to care.
Who in their right mind takes pics of the sun?
Clouds overhead; no one catches them on the run.
Our devices capture spuds and sautéed chicken legs,
A whole host of round holes filled with round pegs.
The flight of bumblebee, their humming never heard,
A splash of green canaries, their chatter always blurred.
We gather vast collections of every ripple and wave,
Capturing previous moments we never see, only save.
Making images for later that we never actually see now,
Mobile phones see it all and we see nothing somehow.
