-- The Peace of Snow --
John Herlihy
We speak of the lightness of snow,
But what about its weight?
We refer to the heaviness of snow,
Packed on tree limbs and gate.
We learn of the uniqueness of snow,
Every flake a work of art.
We feel deep emotion aroused by snow,
That touches the human heart.
We take note of the whiteness of snow,
That sparkles in its descent.
Who can forget the blindness of snow,
That steals clarity the air lent.
Spellbound by the enchantment of snow,
We simply gaze in wonder.
Some of us listen to the silence of snow,
That echoes as thunder.
Of all the qualities that snow may bear;
The peace of snow we remember as prayer.
