-- The Day Has Arrived --
John Herlihy
The light begins the ceremony of dawn,
We take note of the first sliver of light.
Darkness, now bashful, feels all wrong,
Dawn comes into its own lawful right.
Then the sun appears on horizon’s lip,
Making its appearance without a care.
Flaming orange light enlarges sip by sip,
The day always begins as a ritual prayer.
A lonely moon still crept across the sky,
The migrant birds flew due south on que.
Such mysteries never stirred a word why,
Nature’s ways only reflect what we knew.
The day has now arrived, its song to sing,
On the wind of sound, I hear its bell ring.
