What would our lives be like,

If we have no future or past?

No musings of my future life,

Nothing happens ever to last.

My other self would lie hidden,

Never telling me what I may do.

Future hopes/dreams unbidden,

Only the present refreshes anew.

The stars would tell me nothing,

No future longings, past regrets.

Just daytime sun gives belonging,

All the rest but what one forgets.

Oh please, never take them away,

Our future/past have much to say.
