-- The Eye of Midnight --

John Herlihy

Who dives into the deep blue sea,

But the one willing to brave its depths.

Who struggles to reach mountain peaks,

But the one willing to climb their heights.

Who plunges into the heart of the night,

But the one willing to explore its darkness.

Who goes forth in the brightness of day,

But the one willing to capture its light.

Who ready to fill the minutes of the hour,

But the one willing to ride time’s arrow.

Who ready to gaze into the eye of midnight,

But the one willing to taste of its raw power.

All of nature abounds, ever reckless, ever willing,

The light of moonbeams over the horizon spilling.

To be willing is to be courageous before the unknown, whatever form it takes.

I'M SURE THAT OUR CREATOR HAD MULTIPLE REASONS FOR GIVING US NIGHT AND DAY. BUT YES, THINKING ABOUT IT...I CAN GO ALONG WITH THE FACT THAT MAYBE ONE OF THOSE REASONS WAS BECAUSE... 'MIDNIGHT' PROVOKES ONE TO REACH...BEYOND IT, TO A 'NEW DAY'! GIVING ONE...'A REASON'...TO GO ON FOR, WHO KNOWS WHAT TOMORROW MAY HOLD! WONDERFUL REVELATION, MY FRIEND, THANKS! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

I like your poem very much

As your poem posits, all the seeking requires risk, chance and daring. Too few can pull themselves out of an entitlement mode to comprehend the necessity for this kind of seeking in order to know happiness. Well penned.

I believe this is about facing risk. The eye of midnight is an expression but not necessarily the theme of the poem. We are all adventurous, but it takes for those willing to lose their lives to cross the chasms of time and space, creating new worlds for us to explore.
