-- Some Things Never Grow Old –

John Herlihy

In a world where everything seems to age,

Some things in life never seem to grow old.

A rising sun always announces coming of day,

The crescent moon always seems to be at play.

Magical wonder of sunsets fanning a meadow,

A sense of blessing in the birth of a rainbow.

Shyness in youth that thru life continues to stick,

Its tentacles still entwine and holds us in its grip.

Having a revolver suddenly pointed at your head,

Always induce freshness in the feelings of dread.

An aging work of art only increases its mystery,

Forever young, it never loses its implicit beauty.

True love that forever stays passionate and young,

The years pass by, yet the melody remain ever sung.

The peacefulness of falling snow filling the night,

The color of butterfly wings shining in the sunlight.

The raw fear felt from a nearby lightning strike,

Awe when the Milky Way turns the night sky white.

In being true to itself, childhood stays forever young,

The sweet innocence of childhood only it has ever sung.

The feeling of happiness never gets to be old,

Happiness in old age seems a blessing well told.

No one escapes the trajectory of life in turning old,

But some people do beat the odds in staying young.

THIS IS SO TRUE. SOME THINGS LIKE...TEARS, WHEN IT HURTS. LAUGHTER AND SMILES TO EXPRESS HAPPINESS. SORROW THAT ACHES INSIDE AND OUT. THEN THERE'S LOVE, THE TRUE KIND THAT 'STAYS YOUNG' AND...GETS BETTER WITH AGE. ENJOYED, MUCH. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

It's said to stay young is to never lose the wonder of a child. Unfortunately, most of us do.

As long as we are experiencing life like you describe we are alive. I have felt the lightning bolt so close that it scared me to death. But I have not, and hope never to have the pistol held close to my head.
