-- Beauty Elemental --
John Herlihy
The silent temple awakens,
Now filled by a spoken word.
Sacred emptiness is forsaken,
By beauty never before heard.
The temple gong now sounds,
A holy silence gives free reign.
Its rhythmic measure abounds,
Falling into ears as gentle rain.
The spoken word a poem alight,
Silence as darkness illuminated.
Pure silence doth wisdom write,
A poetic word patiently awaited.
Mind is the poet’s sacred temple,
Resurrecting a beauty elemental.
