-- The Marvels of Light --
John Herlihy
So unimaginable,
the first light to ruffle the silky black of night.
So remarkable,
The night itself sprinkled with stars as spilled sugar.
So beatitudinal,
The earth evocative in reflected moon glow.
So whispery,
The gentle breeze lifts away from the sparkling wavelets.
How beautiful,
The patterns of light mingling within the fountain.
How notable,
The shafts of light that stream through the forest trees.
How plentiful,
The light shards glimmering on the moonlit bay.
How burnished,
The oaken light of cognac poured over ice.
Simply wonderful,
The multi-colored light of the storm’s rainbow.
Simply elegant,
The shimmering wings of the soaring eagle.
Simply magical,
The dazzling lights of the perfect diamond.
Simply mystical,
Borrowed light streaming thru heaven on moonbeams.
Drinking in the marvels of light in tender sips,
All the while humming a sonata through soft lips.
