-- The Cure for Fate --

John Herlihy

Our life captured in a single word: fate,

An incurable disease never to go away.

Uniquely ours, there as a kind of mate,

Recording the narrative of what we say.

Still too young when I wanted to be old,

Always in a rush for my destiny to manifest.

I watched everything as a story to be told,

Little did I know that I could never protest.

Our destiny tied together into all that we do

Our decisions all bound by cause and effect

We think to escape ourselves, if we only knew

We take responsibility, even if it means regret

The problem is that our destiny can mean pain

Things happen that never should have occurred

Hopes battered, dreams crushed, little to remain

But the blind illusion that new hopes will be stirred

As we grow up and age, we soon come to realize,

Our one true fate has chosen us and is here to stay.

Not a life that we could make up or conceptualize,

Only a life whose journey becomes our unique way.

The cure for fate lies in surrender to this world within,

Our fate flows through us, the result of each decision.

A river flowing in a glass, may it be filled to the brim,

Our life for living in the shadow of the divine vision.

I AM TOTALLY IN AGREEMENT WITH THE LAST LINE OF THIS FINE WORK. THERE'S ONLY TWO ROADS, SO...THERE IS NO 'CURE' FOR FATE. I THINK WE CAN RECOGNIZE OUR FATE BY GAINING THE FAITH TO SURRENDER OURSELVES TO THE ONE THAT HOLDS OUR IT...IN HIS GOOD, ALL-WISE AND CAPABLE HANDS. OUR OBJECTIVES; THAT ARE INNUMERABLE, DESIRE WHAT WE THINK ARE THE ULTIMATE PLEASURES OF 'THIS' PLANET AND NOT BEYOND. THUS, THEY OFTEN DO NOT COINCIDE WITH HIS OBJECTIVES; RESCUING AND TRANSPORTING US SAFELY TO WHERE WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST PLACE. AND THAT IS WHERE THE 'WAR' AND ITS FALLOUT BEGINS. OUR PLANS ARE SO COMPLICATED, WHILE HIS ARE SO SIMPLE. ENJOYED, THANK YOU, JOHN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Our fate lies in our thoughts and decisions…
Fate may want it’s way at a certain time, but
we have the power to change its trajectory..
thus happening at a different time and place…

Fate… a malleable commodity…

A very fateful and thoughtful rendition of what fate means to us.

Fate is certainly a powerful drive in all of our lives. Mostly taking us off course. But sometimes, that course is much better. As I assess my life, fate has constantly come in to rescue me when bad fate was taking me down. There's much to say for karma from what I've experienced in myself and others.
