-- Nature’s Seal --
John Herlihy
The wind,
When hummed in rhythms of gentle notes,
Can be a hymn uplifting.
Sunlight,
When cast into the realm of a million dust motes,
Can send our minds drifting.
The full moon,
That rises in the depths of the imperious night,
Can be moving.
The stars,
That speak of mystery thru their timid light,
Can be soothing.
The dawn,
That greets the future of the new day,
Can be awakening.
The dusk,
That bids farewell to the sun on its way,
Can be forsaking.
The dew,
Whose mist gently falls from leaves as tears,
On blades of grass abounding.
The silence,
That burrows deep into contemplative ears,
Everywhere sounding.
The clouds,
Those noble sentinels in the darkened sky,
Ever marching.
The rains,
Drenching the earth with its blessing from on high,
Ever purifying.
The seal of nature’s truth can be found everywhere,
Appreciating nature’s beauty our most sacred prayer.
