MIRROR POEMS

-- Veiled --

John Herlihy

The world is veiled in all its beauty,

The world sealed in enduring mystery.

Awesome blue skies and tender trees,

Flitting butterflies and roaming bees.

The buds of flowers bursting into bloom,

Heads of sunflowers dropping in a swoon.

We stand in awe of lightning and thunder,

Marvel at rainbows as we stare in wonder.

The sun shines brightly upon us here below,

The dark night tempered by its moonglow.

The veiled world stirs longings of another kind,

A world unveiled in deep recesses of the mind.

In seeing this veiled world, we are deceived,

Into thinking this the only world to be believed.

-- Unveiled --

John Herlihy

An unveiled world harbors inner beauty,

A world to reveal its enduring mystery.

Awesome blue skies and tender trees,

It is not the mind but the heart that sees.

Lilacs and lilies offer the perfume of scent,

Awakening souls to the flowers’ true intent.

Lightning and thunder speak of divine power,

Stars whisper secrets at the midnight hour.

The sun shines forth the miracle of divine light,

The moon reminds of the peacefulness of night.

The veiled world stirs longings in the soul bold,

Symbols and signs of a hidden world now told.

In lifting the world’s veil, no longer deceived,

The inner eye sees a world worthily believed.

What an eloquent poem! It stirs the soul while revealing the artistry of a man who will be read again and again, ages and ages hence. How lucky for us, how thoughtful for them.

As I read this beauty of a poem,
We are experiencing a fierce thunderstorm here in the UK…

The world veiled and unveiled is starkly highlighted here.
Divine Power unleashed, as we stand and gaze in awe at
Nature’s magnificent and powerful display …
Experienced both with the eyes…and the Heart…

The more science delves into the nature of life, the more we find out we don't know. There certainly is a need to unveil nature so we know what has been veiled over for all of time until now.
