-- To Everything --
John Herlihy
To everything a season,
Even if we understand not the reason
To everything a purpose,
Even if things seem utterly worthless
To everything true hope,
Even when hanging from a frayed rope
To everything a secret,
Even if we don’t always keep it
To everything a mystery,
Because it lends a sense of eternity
To everything a sorrow,
In the dark thinking of tomorrow
To everything a happiness,
Even if life can sometimes feel as duress
To everything a way in,
Even if we never know what might have been
To everything a way out,
Especially when we simply want to shout.
To everything do we aspire
The wick burns down, but the flame still afire

attention…and often presents them finally in ways we could never have imagined…
‘The wick burns down, but the flame still afire’…
I love the way you have worded this poem…
Excellent!
