-- A Fine Line --
John Herlihy
A fine line lies between opposites;
Cross the line and you will know.
As fine as the trek of planetary obits;
A wrong stich destroys what we sew.
The fine line between love and hate;
A hair’s breath may be all it requires.
One as a feather, the other a weight;
Hate drags us down, while love inspires.
The fine line of ignorance and knowledge;
One wrong step leads across the divide.
What life teaches vs that learned in college,
Only to find oneself on the wrong side.
A fine line between honesty and lies,
A tightrope to walk without falling low.
Honesty we love and dishonesty despise
Lies we recognize, truth we never know
A fine line between patience and haste;
Haste eyes the clock, patience eternal.
To wait for hours may seem like a waste,
Ageless wisdom that passes hours vernal.
We could go on, but I have made my point;
A fine line, indeed, does opposites anoint.
Beware lest the fine line may turn invisible,
Making all opposites a great lie indivisible.
