-- Heaviness of Heart -- John Herlihy Was our life ever so light That we forgot heaviness of heart? Was sunlight ever so bright That darkness would never play a part? The storm signals itself by heavy cloud, An abject moodiness fills the head. Our thoughts as if wrapped in a shroud, The mind darkens as the heart bled. Miseries the mainstay of this homeland, Destined to succumb, to be lost. Sorrows featured as heartland, Always burdened with undue cost. Heaviness from knowing something, Lightness from knowing nothing. -- Lightness of Heart -- John Herlihy Was our life ever so heavy That we forgot lightness of heart? Was night ever such eternity That lightness would never play a part? We do our business as light as a feather A light-hearted moodiness fills the head. Our thoughts filled with springtime weather The mind unburdened as darkness fled. The mind featured as homeland, Never to succumb, to be lost. If words can so easily change from heavy to light, why not the mind turn heavy thoughts into light ones. What a wonderful world it would be.
