I dreamed of you last night,

What poetry in such thought.

Of darkness with mellow light,

Night lover found never sought.

For these many years now gone,

Memories from a still living past.

Our time then never seemed long,

Such moments linger, but not last.

I dreamed of you last night,

A memory found as if never lost.

There in the well waters moonlight,

Patient waiting the moment to accost.

Oh, how I remember how we thrived,

Your smile a light illuminating my mind.

Such love as an eternal flame to survive,

Your touch tender, your eyes always kind.

I dreamed of you last night,

This night as one night in many millions.

Misty shadow, still magical as a sprite,

My evening star in a firmament of billions.

The night is short, the dream doesn’t last,

Only to suddenly awaken in present reality.

The dream fragments slip back into the past,

To gather force for another night’s mystery.
