-- A Night Star --

John Herlihy

Of crystal eyes

Aquamarine blue

A venue of surprise

Where songbirds flew

Deep pools of emotion

The eyes knowingly stare

Such human devotion

Glowing as in as prayer

The two eyes as one

The vision crystal clear

The third eye as a sun

The invisible draws near

In your eyes a night star

The door of mystery ajar

I see a portrait painting in this poem. I wish I were that kind of artist to release through paint what's in my mind.

THE BEAUTY OF DEEP BLUE EYES CANNOT BE DENIED! I EXPECT IF ONE PEERED INTENSELY ENOUGH INTO THEM...MANY THINGS COULD BE IMAGINED. FINE WOK. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

It is simple to compress this entire work into the last line: The door of mystery ajar. Perhaps all the virtues of the word "eye" can be summed up with that last line as well... even those attributes unmentioned.

An intriguing commentary about how eyes can reflect both mystery and revelation.

Like I remember looking into the pale blue eyes of a husky one time conjuring up both fear and love in the depths his eyes projected. He didn't bite me, so love must have conquered his fear of me.
