-- Free to Love --

John Herlihy

Prelude: in pillow talk

Even soft whispers heard

He: You know I love you.

She: In love what’s to know.

He: The mind says the words.

She: The heart flutters like birds.

He: Nothing is so complicated.

She: Only thinking makes it so.

He: Sometimes hard to love.

She: No, it isn’t so, it’s easy.

He: Come, kiss me, my sweet.

She: No, you come and kiss me.

His thought: We kissed, feather breath.

Her thought: Now I know his love.

She: You see how easy it is.

He: We are in love, you and I.

She: But I am still free in my soul.

He: What does that mean.

She: If not free, I could not love you.

He: If not free, I want not your love.

His thought: Slave to love never.

Her thought: Free to love forever.

Postscript: They fell asleep in love.

And in their sleep, still in love.

An interesting change from your usual style. But I have a question. If actions speak louder than words, why do women require their men to constantly reassuring them by saying, "I love you," even if they don't? Shouldn't she be able to tell by her man's actions? I guess that is why some men are very good at seducing women. Being wordy and schmoozing them with ego building verbal caresses. Based on what I read here, you would seem to be a champion romancer.

Sounds so familiar of men and women's minds..Women are from Venus, men are from Mars, two worlds apart, yet compliment perfectly. Can't live with them yet can't live without them. Beautiful prolific imagery ):
