-- A New World --
John Herlihy
The world that we knew,
With fatal winds away blew.
The world we now know,
A hopeful life there to sew.
Our old world now gone,
For much that we still long.
A new world now to begin,
The sun there on horizon’s rim.
The old world we freely give away,
The new world we simply beg to stay.
The times on us were tough, so very tough,
Thrown in turmoil by a winter sea rough.
We bring fortitude from the world we knew;
We bring gratitude to the world soon to know.
