Poem Artwork

-- Tracings --

John Herlihy

Tracings found everywhere

In the beginning of things.

The tracings of your smile

Linger, soothing me a while.

The tracings of your frown

Make me feel as falling down.

Tracings of looming despair

Draw me into silent prayer.

The tracings of your rope

A thin line leading to hope.

Tracings in a gentle wind

Our thoughts softly tinged.

Tracings of a child’s fantasy

Arouses my sense of mystery.

Tracings in the artist’s mind

While I only seeing as if blind.

Shadow tracings on the wall

As magic theater to enthrall.

Tracings of melodious notes

Into my tender heart floats.

Frost tracings as a fine lace,

Winter wonder in living grace.

A poem with tracings fine

Brush-stroked letters mine.

Another fine working of the many often interpreted enigmatic mysteries with many perspectives. Fine choice of examples made this truly unique.

I would like to see the tracings of the wind. I believe I have in the sands of time. But the tracings of a whim are a bit harder to find. Perhaps from the artist's words on the line.

Interesting concept.

The word "tracings" has a richness of (in context) synonyms - layers, readings, routes, breathings, markings, forms, patterns, shapes - all of which offer the reader a more personal interpretation. Well done, John. Peace.... rlc

Visions of A Skylark Dressed in Black by Aberjhani

“The woman or man who is a poet, or fiction writer, or playwright, or all of these, is engaged constantly in a jazz ballet of vocabularies, passions, genders, histories, perspectives, death, love, and life. The music of revelation announces itself to
