We live our lives in waiting,

Waiting to grow up, waiting to grow old.

All of our lives expectations baiting,

Waiting to listen, waiting to be told.

All of our lives asking questions,

Waiting for illumination, waiting for mercy.

All of our lives seeking answers,

Waiting to crack the code of life’s mystery.

All of our lives trying to accomplish something,

On our own, waiting for something to achieve.

All of our lives wondering what the journey will bring,

Waiting to recognize all the things that deceive.

All of our lives noting the passage of time,

Waiting for the hours that quickly pass us by.

All of our lives seeking the touch of moments sublime,

Waiting for a future upon which we can never rely.

All of our lives waiting with a patience dutiful,

Knowing we should be waiting when in such a hurry.

All of our lives waiting with a patience beautiful,

Holding the reins of self-control never to feel sorry.

All of our lives endeavoring to achieve,

Waiting for knowledge, waiting for wisdom.

All of our lives the heart of life’s mystery to relieve,

The unknowable made known in God’s kingdom.

We live all of our lives hesitating,

All of our days so many things to ponder.

We live all of our lives in waiting,

Until the day we need to be waiting no longer.
