-- Lifting the Veil of Reality– John Herlihy Thick the veil That locks us inside this world. Thin the veil That separates us from another world. Heavy the veil That prevents any lightness of being. Light the veil That allows lifting the weight of being. Solid the veil That shows us the hard, physical world. Diaphanous the veil That shows us an inner silken world. Black the veil That darkens in shadow all that we do. White the veil That illuminates in light all we knew. Visible the veil That only makes known the visible world. Invisible the veil That freely makes known the invisible world. The wall of the veil Hinders entry for those who seek. The door of the veil Welcomes entry for those who are meek. The lock of the veil Seals all visions within the reality of this world. So many combinations depending on our reactions and learning�
A fascinating subject to muse upon�
�and countless variations�

Your poem, in many ways, illustrates how our minds color our worlds. Why one person sees the world as beautiful and wonderful every day, while others see the world as dangerous and terrible to live in every day. For some, it is a reality, but for most, we create our world through the veil of our mind's filter, our attitude and learned perception.
