-- Flower of Love’s Emotions –

John Herlihy

A vast emptiness I didn’t know was empty,

Seeking a vast fulness, waiting to be filled.

Old memories linger, they hang on for a while,

They stay emptied, yet they make us feel filled.

Then, out of the blue (sky), love comes along,

You can’t plan or invent it, as if from nothing, born.

Unmistakable, there it is, a deep well inside,

Depths you cannot reach, there to drown in.

What does that new love do but erase all memory,

Just writes over the past as if it never existed.

Love to make beauty of ugliness, hope from despair,

Loves dissipates what has been to mystify what can be.

The flower of love’s emotions unfolds petal by petal,

Floating in gentle breeze until in the heart they settle.

SOMETIMES THAT HUMAN FLOWER DOESN'T SURVIVE, JOHN. SOMETIMES IT JUST DOESN'T WORK. SO, AFTER THAT FIRST, REAL LOVE OF OUR LIFE FAILS AND WE FINALLY GET IT TOGETHER AND STOP FOOLISHLY SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER UNDER EVERY ROCK AND TITTLE...I THINK ONE STEPS BACK, AND APPRECIATES THE EXPERIENCING OF AT LEAST KNOWING LOVE, THOUGH IT FAILED AND THEN SEEKS SOMETHING DEEPER. AND IT IS THEN THAT ONE CONSIDERS THAT WITH HUMANS THERE IS A 'CONDITION' TO LOVE. WITH GOD...HIS LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL. SO WE, WHO CAN BE SO COMPLEX AND WHO TRAVEL WITH SO MUCH 'BAGGAGE' THAT ONLY GOD AND HIS ANGELS CAN UNDERSTAND(SMILE), SHOULD CHOOSE WISELY; WHETHER TO RIDE THE ROLLER COASTER OF HUMAN LOVE, WHICH CAN BE HERE TODAY AND GONE TOMORROW... OR...TO WALK SAFE, STEADY AND CONTENTED IN THE STREAM OF GOD'S...FLOWERING, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. ENJOYED, THANK YOU JOHN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

And, as you know from my own writing, I firmly believe that to "be love" is to never suffer anxiety over finding an object, a person to extend that love to. "I am in love with you" for me means I exist in a state of love with you as you exist in a state of love. This poem of yours presents so many of the existential aspects of love's journey.

new love does and can reformat the brain in such a breeze. for what took for some a habit to build new neurons, but for love- forgetting and forgiving is done with joy and tranquil. thank you. it's really a nice touch having it compared to a flower's unfolding petals.

Put simply and to quote the song this is ‘The Power of Love…’
It has the ability, to transform, reconstruct, and change lives
forever…
I especially love your last line…
