-- To Become What We Dream -- John Herlihy What is it that we will end up becoming, A doctor, a lawyer, a travelling salesman. What do we find in a destiny summoning, An inner voice to serve as valued talisman. Our dreams not just of nocturnal slumber, Moons over the horizon in the light of day. Visionary dreams with the voice of thunder, Appearing in the mist as they find their way. The dream runs before us forever to reach, As mirage in the desert a nomad to inspire. The dream enters us our hearts to beseech, Not as smoldering embers, but as raging fire. Some people will become what they dream, The secret lies in the ways of dreaming well. Now, if only all of us dreamers would keep first and foremost in our minds that regardless our ambition, remain authentic. The number of wannabe-what-I'm-not-cut-out-for and facade seekers is mind-blowing.

hmmm in random imaginings, is where dreams are often seeded. I just love how dreams lit fire in the many hearts of us, some burning continuously, and others dimming in appearance, trying to infect others. I love that line- a mirage in the desert a nomad to inspire. Courageous are those who are able to persistently dream. Lovely piece.

What will you dream today? This is a slow thought provoking poem. Some dream and some become their dream. Excellent write.

Gentle and sensitive piece, John. That line, �Not as smoldering embers, but as raging fire.� is striking, as are lines 3 and 4. This has a soothing effect and the image is enchanting. I�ve been away too long and I reconnect by reading by the latest posted work, but of course I want to go back and read every single one of the writings of those who I follow, . . . like you! Well this is simply breathtaking! In it's simplicity it tells as much as the readers imagination can imagine. For me there was a spectre of images, stars, moons, ethereal beings walking in big strides across galaxies. I enjoyed this tale much. Well done!
