-- Questions Difficult to Answer --
By John Herlihy
Questions asked that are difficult to answer,
Questions of another life on breath of a panther.
Why might emptiness often feel as such fullness,
Why might fullness feel like such an emptiness.
Why does a burden weigh heavy when we do nothing,
Why does a burden weigh light when we do something.
We taste of time, at times we taste of eternity,
What will it be like where this journey will take me.
We see the world of pleasure, the world of physicality,
What would it be like to unveil the world of mystery.
What if we lived an eternal day without the ebony night,
What if we lived an eternal night, without any hint of light.
What if the plate of night wasn’t sprinkled with dusty starlight,
What if the night never witnessed the phases of moonlight.
What if the stars in the night sky didn’t nightly appear,
Wouldn’t it feel like our hearts were pierced by a spear.
What if there were only one season, the rest to lose,
Fallen leaves, pure snow, spring rain, to choose.
What of one life to live, resulting from a single birth,
What of only one world to live in, called Planet Earth.
Answers may come and go, it’s the questions we devise,
Probing the mysteries that surround us intended to advise.

As for the stars, the moon, and seasons leaving suddenly, that would be simply sudden death. It is only in reflection or poetry that we can come up with ideas like this. We may well only be able to live on this planet. But we have already lived in the most inhospitable places on the planet and in space for over one year. To live a lifetime like that, is what is, questionable.
We need our mother Earth with all of its idiosyncrasies that have made us just to survive.
