-- Every Kind of Weather --
by John Herlihy
Every kind of weather,
High above in the sky.
Clouds fluffy as a feather,
Rain when the skies cry.
Weather feeling as despair,
As if falling into an abyss.
Murmuring words as prayer,
Remembering all that we miss.
The heavens an opal blue,
As penetrating as an eye.
Wind that the puff clouds blew,
In utter silence, we sigh.
The sky as an open book,
As vast and brimming as the sea.
The eternal dome, just look,
Reading verses to you and me.
Our shouts, our every entreaty,
Listened to and by the sky heard.
Blessing with its random beauty,
Its silence echoes inspirational word.
The sky silent in its wonder,
The storm creeps on panther paws.
A great swell in waves of thunder,
Lightning flashes feelings of awe.
The sky’s overarching beauties,
Overhead, the celestial dome.
Stirring the mind with its mysteries,
Inspiring thoughts of the universal home.

But when we view the Earth from space and see that thin line of blue that surrounds the planet, we realize that our lives and the lives of every living thing depend on that very thin blue line of atmosphere that cloaks over us like you described, protecting us from radiation and numerous other maladies that we need to continue to protect ourselves from in the future.

How can I add
To the beauty
Of this masterpiece?
I cannot, kind sir.
So, I shall pack
My bags filled with words
I borrowed from Webster,
Now scores of years ago,
And kindly move on.
