Is there anyone out there who cares,

Anyone out there who willingly dares.

Dares to listen when no one ever hears,

Hears in sadness the gentle flow of tears.

Tears that spring forth from a secret place,

A private place never revealed in one’s face.

To face the challenges people cannot bear,

Challenges only addressed in silent prayer.

Indeed, silent prayer where no one listens,

No one listens but a single star that glistens.

Starlight whose mystery we do understand,

An understanding that bears no reprimand.

Out in the infinite beyond, someone cares,

Near as the heart, listening to our prayers.
