-- Never Come Back Again --

by John Herlihy

I want to have just one last chance,

To right a wrong and make amends.

I want to believe and take a stance,

Not to be anyone who just pretends.

I want to gaze at the far distant stars,

Paving their way beyond earth’s hem.

I want to memorize all my memories,

Enjoy comfort in remembering them.

To hold in hand a solitary white rose,

Whose heavenly scent fills my nose.

I want to feel the caress of a breeze,

On my breath, my ears, feeling ease.

I want to say goodbye to my friend,

To put into words this sense of end.

Value life’s moments, never pretend,

Knowing they will never come again.

Thoughtfully penned sentiments that I'm certain most of us can relate to.

I IMAGINE THAT THE SIMPLE, FREE GIFTS IN LIFE... WHICH ONE TOOK FOR GRANTED, ARE...AT SOME TIME 'LAMENTED' FOR THEY...NEVER COME BACK AGAIN. GREAT! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Making amends before the end is an admirable thing to do. At least I hope it is. See you down the road...

Much to ponder in this poetic statement of the nature of goodbye. It brings to mind I once was told "Til we meet again" as opposed to "goodbye." The utterance has stayed with me for a very long time and I try and think it possible for one's inner spirit to stay around, in both our mortalitiy state---when we part from something dear to to us---and anticipating how I hope to utter the phrase when It's time to leave this state of being. Thank you for posting.
