Some Things in Life

Some things in life cannot be taught,

Some things in life cannot be learned.

Some things in life cannot be bought,

Some things in life are simply earned.

A native skill produced from wonder,

Drawn forth from the depths of soul.

Some things within us feel as thunder,

As treasure found in a beggar’s bowl.

A truly patient man already knows,

The beatitude discovered in the wait.

The pristine beauty of winter snows,

An invitation waiting at an open gate.

The gift of wisdom lies beyond compare,

To see in the ordinary a precious miracle.

Never taught, never learned, only to dare,

To strive beyond ourselves to the pinnacle.

To know the extent of what I don’t know,

To see things that to others are unseen.

Leaves tremble as wind thru trees blow,

To capture the light of day in a sunbeam.

To trust oneself, treat others as brothers,

A bud never hesitates to blossom as bloom.

To avoid all lies, leave all the lying to others,

To weave a seamless destiny on a broadloom.

Indeed, some things in life cannot be taught,

Focus, therefore, on the supreme goal sought.
