The Circle of Time and Truth

by John Herlihy

The circle of time forward unrolls,

The circle of truth forever unfolds.

In mutual embrace, they intertwine,

Forever on their trajectory sublime.

When tomorrow arrives,

It is no longer tomorrow.

There it stands as the present,

The day itself feels on borrow.

The present no longer present,

When it takes its leave.

Gone, swish, totally absent,

The moment there to deceive.

When the present departs,

The past takes up the reins.

Memory much meaning imparts,

Yet leaves behind indelible stains.

The circle of time forever beginning,

The circle of truth forever being.

SO TRUE, AND THIS WORK HAS JUST PROVOKED A THOUGHT; THERE WILL COME A TIME WHEN THERE WILL BE NO MORE TIME, AND 'FOREVER' WILL ALWAYS BE TODAY. I ENJOYED THIS FINE WORK, MY FRIEND, THANK YOU. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS.

All the more reason to write in the present and post it on the Internet so that a history of this time, in real time, will be recorded like a diary… Anne Frank

Another analogy that has stuck with me is that you can dip in the water of a river flowing by, like time, but you will never be able to taste the same water again.

I found the combining of time and truth to be a jogger for me, arousing an old belief that many people defy time's measure, i.e., seconds, minutes, and hours. Some are so anxious for the 24 hours to pass that they leave little room to be the being you speak of. There are some of us (I've met but a few) who when tempted to wish the day gone, look hard at why. Inevitably, it is because of the disturbance they are experiencing. I, and those few others, embrace this kind of disturbance and ask what time is trying to teach me? And, yes, I've never failed in discovering a message of learning and growth, albeit very small at times, as well as life-changing at others. Thank you for posting this "jogger" for me.
