Light in Darkness by John Herlihy I fear the darkness Because of the absence of light. I do not fear the dark Because of its illuminating insight. In the dark I cannot see, But I can hear, I can feel, I can smell. I fear not what lies in me, Mysteries that only darkness can foretell. The darkness is not dark, When it sends forth messages of light. Even if the darkness darker, Still, the dark tempered by moonlight. Listen to the darkness And you will finally see, All the enticing mystery That lies within you and me. The light of the world goes out, Time itself loses its heartbeat. The darkness stirs eternal, Until it is no longer dark. Darkness draws its meaning From the beauty of its light. IT IS THROUGH THE DARKNESS THAT ONE CAN SEE HOW BEAUTIFUL 'LIGHT' IS. WE APPRECIATE THE GIFT OF ITS MARVELOUS BEAMS WHEN IT...LEADS US THROUGH THE DARK TO A PEACEFUL PLACE. HOW SAD IT IS THAT...'HE'...THE LIGHT... SHINES IN DARKNESS, BUT SO MANY STILL DO NOT COMPREHEND IT. GORGEOUS AND INSPIRATIONAL! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

To think like that when we are in the dark is only possible because we have our own little furnace that runs on water and food. So the light is always on even though we are asleep when it comes to the activity of our brains even when the night is so dark that we can't see our hand in front of our face. Or worse, we are blind.

For the life of me, I can't imagine how in the hell Helen Keller did what she did. With what little she had to do it with. Graduate from college, go on tour and enlighten so many people from her darkness.

I'm so grateful, that our junior high school, booked her to come and speak to us when I was in the eighth grade.
