Beyond Imagination

by John Herlihy

What lies beyond imagination we can only imagine,

Beyond the horizon, mysteries we try to fathom.

Beyond imagination lies the realm of the unknown,

An ethereal kingdom from shadows and light sewn.

Lying there in the darkness behind closed eyelids,

Whispering secrets found in depths of the pyramids.

What do we see but a maze that never comes clear,

What do we hear but a silence forever held dear.

A voice that speaks without emotion or sound,

An echo to reverberate across the heavens profound.

A lattice work of mystery that harbors no sounds,

With seeds that fall into the soil of fertile grounds.

In a land beyond imagination amid some alien terrain,

Sparkling gems unimaginable shimmering in the rain.

Who can count all the petals of life's unfolding flower,

Who can reckon all the mysteries of the impending hour.

We think we can imagine what lies beyond life's face,

Whereas we settled instead for the touch of God's grace.

We throw questions to the wind that have no true answer,

Questions far more suited perhaps for a stalking panther.

Imagination takes us out of ourselves so far as it goes,

Where it will truly take us nobody rightly knows.

The wondering, the emotions, the frustrations still there,

Left behind in the imagination a lingering prayer.

To search endlessly through life's highways and byways,

Until we finally realize that God is with us always.

Scripture says: He is with you whatever you are,

There in our imagination as faithful, guiding north star.

To take us by the hand and lead us far, far beyond,

Into realms never imagined in the grand celestial pond.

I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE THINGS THAT WE CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO IMAGINE. GRATEFUL THAT ONE 'PROMISED DAY' MY SENSES WILL BE BLESSED IN SUCH AN UNIMAGINABLE WAY. FOR I RECALL BEING TOLD THAT; EYES HAVE NOT SEEN, NOR EARS HAVE HEARD WHAT AWAITS US, AMEN. ENJOYED. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Beyond imagination is an interesting thought. Certainly, there is more unknown out there than we know. But some imagination may never be reality unless there are the materials and tools to make it happen.

For example, imagining that one can fly like the birds. It took very long to achieve it, but we now have drones that imitate butterflies and we may have personal flying machines very soon. Beyond that, do we want more unknown to be known?

As you adoitly point out, imagination is an element of existence that for the most part is reserved for we humans. But can't help but think that some of our friends in Nature have it as well... just more private.
