All My Troubles
by John Herlihy
I confess that I bear all my troubles well,
With nary a word to say and no one to tell.
In my surroundings, silence speaks volumes,
As in the desert, silence hovers over the dunes.
Within the confines of my solitude, I give voice,
Not that I have in the matter any other choice.
Over the years I realized that few people listen,
Like speaking to the stars, they merely glisten.
They listen not, but across light years, they speak,
In the face of their ancient message, I feel weak.
All praise to the solitude that I feel its wonder,
Lightning strikes silently, but we hear its thunder.
All my troubles will stay with me for another day,
In time, they will finally disappear and that’s okay.
Vanish on their own as they vanish into the mist,
To leave behind as exquisite feeling of being blest.
