From Complexity, Simplicity
by John Herlihy
In the complexity of the hours
In the expensiveness of our lives
Simplicity leaves behind its mark
Imprimatur of our better selves
Clearly displayed in the smile of a child
Infant innocence in the recesses of mind
Imprinted as a watermark in the heart
Seen as light in the shadows of the soul
Sparks of innocence that come to bear
Moonbeams as rays of light that glow
Complexity lies in the architecture of life
Simplicity lies in life’s affirmation of soul
Years may pass but simplicity never ages
Soft whispers echo the wisdom of sages
