What Was To Be...

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

“A scattering of pebbles” posted a few days back was to be my last written and posted piece for a number of reasons. However As I cradled my cat “china” in my arms tonight I came to the realization that to ask me to stop writing would be like asking me to stop breathing. For me to do so would only hasten the end. Therefore we have tonight’s piece titled “Most Precious”. Life must be lived to the fullest and all days numbered according to His plan. Also I must make amends for my negligence, though I read many fine offerings, my score on comments of late has been quite dismal to which I offer my apologies.

Most Precious

His trust knows no bounds; his innocence serene and pure.

His tiny heart is steady beating; most precious in my arms sleeping.

His dark eyes unto mine now greet; a tenderness of love plain to see.

All of God’s creatures both big and small bring solitudes reflection of a higher call.

Most precious is life; most wonderful is its gift that we should stave off the end when it come nigh.

So bless this heart which calls forth sincere and true .

Bless all God’s creatures, even me and you.

For it should be that all is safe and secure for both man and beast.

Therefore Love every living thing like there is no tomorrow.

For the day that was is never to be again, and of what we never had should to our hearts sorrow.

Bless all God’s creatures….even man.

Felines are truly sage creatures, and I'm glad China convinced you. Write On!

Oh, Allen!

The Den would be a much sadder place without you here. I'm glad "China" (and God) made you change your mind. This is beautifully penned - well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
