I Lay Me Down Beside Still Waters…

The wet coolness soaked through my clothes as I lay beside the still waters.

My eyes were fixed in a heavenly stare as I thought about my Leah sitting at the right hand of our father.

The soft pinks and the graying cool lavenders spread across the evening sky.

And as I lay beside these still…unmoving waters…I had to ask once more, why.

I heard no voices that called my name; I heard not but the still silence of my dreams.

I rose up and sat on bended knees; I looked at the water… and it looked back at me.

I reflected upon the reflections that glistened in the smooth water like unto glass.

I thought of so many things…I thought of my sorrows; my hopes for the future and my past.

So of this day that beside these still waters my whole body I did lay.

I remembered and recalled all that I knew and to God I quietly prayed.

I have hope my heart quietly sighed;

I have dreams anew and within me love will always abide.

I stood and made my way back to my car…

I looked back at the still waters from afar.

It was then I saw a red tail hawk land where I did once lay.

It was then that I knew that God had heard my prayers and I would see another day.
