I chose the Rose as my flower of choice. Here is my description of what it means to me,
No greater fragrance on earth then the scent of a rose
its the flower lovers choose when they want to propose
Touch it in the sunlight and it will eagerly transpose
all the beauty it contains, before your heart's enclose
She is a catalyst for romance, ageless as fine wine
best appreciate her bravery while there's still time
Don't encase her while she is still blooming strong,
but rather enjoy her as if she were a fine love song...

I have found so many varieties of roses. Even ones that had no lovely scent at all. One of my favorites was the wild roses that grew in the ditches along my 8 mile drive back and forth to the University in rural West Virginia. I cut the weeds and poison oak from the rose growing before the stone wall announcing the entrance to our small lakeside community. I got scratched up a bit but the poison oak itchiness lasted but a day.
One rose that I planted by my gas meter was all of what you described. It was blood red with large blossoms. To feel the petals was like fine velvet. And their scent was glorious, one of the best I ever experienced. But I was guilty of clipping them in their prime and taking them to my assistants in the VP's office where they were displayed in water, to die a slow death. I'm sorry for violating your requirement to let them be. Unfortunately, a winter freeze killed them and I was unable to find a replacement.

Hi Vie, I love Rose's so much that from time to time I order pure Bulgarian essential rose oil because it has incredible health benefits and of course healing benefits. In Bulgaria they process and distill millions of Rose's for the world. Thousands of roses go into a tiny vile glass bottle , very expensive but to me is extremely worth it. Also it has beautiful compounds and properties for the skin. It feels and smells like gloriously heaven and silky if you could imagine it. Thank you so much for reminding me of this treasured flower that is so stunningly delicate and pretty...I hope you have a beautiful day
