Slumbering bruin on leaves in his den
content to hide throughout winters dread. Nestled in his gnarled paws so open
his endearing red crested feathered friend. When all others left him time and again
tan breasted one vowed to stay to the end. Through summer romps in green forests and glens
to marvels at the changing hues so grand. 'Til falling leaves turn to snow more often
season to season, lovers, partners, friends.
My father told me as a child, "Stay close to nature and you shall stay close to God/Creator." Your poem reminds me of this, Budd. Love and peace to you,

The unconditional love of animals. Too bad we can't grasp this simple principle. Wonderful work. Flows so nicely.
Hope springs eternal, this penned with warmth,
As creatures set the examples to all, to not worry.
Seasons change and go, as creatures do show,
To live a day at a time, in this world of mime.
This fills me with so much warmth and a sense of all being well in the world, Budd. We as humans have much to learn through the gift of the natural world around us. Beautifully captured. xx

I enjoy nature and the animals I've seen along the way. So many different species living in harmony and only hunger drives them to prey upon another to live. Humans should be as mindful.
While animals may seem to make strange bonds from time to time, we humans also bear those traits. Your poem is a metaphor for coming together rather than parting.
If you think you are alone and can see outside, watch for movement the animals and birds on the ground and in the sky and you are not alone at all.

I must agree that life,loves and friendships cannot, and should not be conventional in any way. Spread your wings and fly, but have the good sense to come down time and again and just snuggle for snugglings sake.
I always remember our furry and feathered friends in winter.. They seem so grateful for bread crusts and orange rinds. Your poem reveals a true and tender heart.
I miss squirrels at this new place. A little fellow has a bb gun, so now my dogs don't have playmates. I'm living your poem. Keep the snow, it's 20 degrees. I like this, Budd.
