LOVE IS NOT WHO I THOUGHT HE WAS

Who is Love?  Is it the Man with the pleasant smile – whose style pulled you in –wittingly, seemingly sincere – saying all the right things to draw you near..

Presenting himself as a strong support—a Lover of God and Man after HIS own Heart

When in reality there is a storm brewing within

A wolf in sheep’s clothing, though you trusted this Man.

For when he was down and out your were his Queen

But once you helped him to reach his goals, he’s nowhere to be seen.

Who is love? I dare to say, that man that states if you love him you’ll do all things his way

Yes, you bear it just to save a fight,

you acquiesce to make it through each night

Not realizing that the selfishness within him will surface again

Selfish love breads abuse and disrespect—

without Godly correction it will never end!

So who is Love, I ask you again, that man who asks you to dwell in sin?

For despite all your effort he honors you not,

without common respect nor marriage --but of you he demands a lot.

He robs you of your joy seeking his own,

Causing you to live in fear, in your own home!

Fear of emotional abuse, a beating, or neglect, for it’s all the same,

Just trust in God and call on his name!

Jesus, yes there is none like him

for he is your strength and refuge, when things are grim!

There you stand as he checks out another woman; Oh, he lustfully stares

And this is what this World says women must bare!

I boldly declare, that is a lie from the pit of Hell!

Plead the Blood of Jesus over it, and destroy that worldly spell

The world also says it is ok for Him to look as long as he doesn’t touch

Women of God if you believe this, you can’t feel your worth much

Oh yes, this is what the wicked would have you believe

So you put up with the vilest disrespect- - being conditioned to never leave!

The world teaches it doesn’t matter where he gets his fire as long as he brings it home

But we know if you put your goodies out there for everyone to see, he’d leave you alone.

For with each crushing blow, or words that make you emotionally lame

He is priming your spirit to readily except more of the same.

Your self-esteem falls with the speed of a shooting star

And as you flip each fake-polished magazine page

You forget how beautiful you are

For the longer you are in this situation

you become more withdrawn from civilization.

As He keeps you from your family and friends

causing your joyful spirit to slowly descend.

As time passes you’ll become more like Him

Accepting this to be your fate, you even begin to defend Him.

Telling yourself, if I’d just do things much better

another lie from the pit of hell; which is why I am writing this poem/Love Letter

He’s kind in public, for other’s eyes

Expecting you to play along with his disguise

And by reason of fear you play along,

Knowing if you don’t, there’ll be hell when you get home!

Some Saved but Carnal men expect you to settle while they straddle the Fence

Living like the world, surrendering just enough to get into Heaven

But in this life they never truly make a difference

One moment he’s lusting viewing a video with a girl in a bikini

Then minutes later flips to a gospel station

I mean seriously, are you kidding me?

A Man of GOD he proclaims to be

One day he will stand before Christ then he shall see

Because the hidden things he has done to you in your home

Trust, to our heavenly Father it isn’t unknown.

Oh, yes you can have a peaceful home

As long as you don’t speak-up on anything He does wrong.

Realized that what you comprise the Word Of God to keep, you shall surely loose

or suffer for a season in the prison it will create

dimming your light - quenching your spirit – breading nothing but Hate.

Who is love- can you see him?

Look close with you spiritual eyes,

for Our Fathers says, there are none good – What,  are ye surprised?

So, tell me who do you hold precious as a dove?

The man who promised you forever, or HE who is LOVE—

He who first descended into the depths of Hell

for he laid down his life for us,  without sin, He never fell

Now He is risen and ascended into the Heavens above

So that he could show forth The Example of a more Perfect Love

Yes, now seated on God’s Right hand,

Part of the trinity, God in the flesh, who came as man!

Sacrificing all things to which he had a right!

Redeeming us from sin; making us again acceptable in God’s Sight.

So you must learn to love God first, and then yourself

Until then you can never truly love someone else.

Always try to see the GOD- Potential in every man

Just make sure he was sent from God

Not of his own will Ran

With his own plans He’ll run his race –

giving no thought to your potential appointed by God’s Grace

Enticing, lying, deceiving and in time he has you believing

That he is it, your savior and only hope

I say stand boldly in Christ and drop that Dope.

Beautiful Daughters, Let go of what you have in your hand

So the Lord can send you that Strong, Beautiful and loving Man!

I am speaking from experience, for I have lived this nightmare,

Understanding now; that I had to suffer for a season to make my Sisters in Christ aware.

Now understand, I am not proclaiming Women as Head of the House

But if that man isn’t following GOD, you stand boldly or Get OUT!

Also I am not saying that every saved man will live right

But you have something to work with when he is filled with God’s Light

You pray for him and believe, in Christ

He will act on your behalf, this isn’t your fight!

For you cannot expect results if you remain mute

Changing your demeanor causing your disrepute;

Creating an endless cycle; producing only bad fruit.

 So, pray to the Father for Wisdom so then you will know;

Discerning when to hold to your Man, and when to let go.

Also beautiful sisters, keep your head up and remember to whom you belong

Make praise in your heart to GOD—sing to him a new song

For I spent too many seasons searching for love,

Until I came to myself and realized

GOD IS LOVE and not who I thought He Was!
