I wrote this for my father two weeks after he passed away. This is a re-post.

Poem Artwork

I wish I had spent
More time with you while
You were living

I wish I had sent
You candy each day
With a card

When I'd let you down
You'd smile and you'd be
So forgiving

You'd still joke around
After a long day
You worked hard

Why is it we don't
Know just what we have
Til we lose it

Why is it we won't
Take the time to show love
When we should

The time that I had
I just didn't know
How to use it

I think you know, Dad
I'd make it all up
If I could

Well said Jane. We really don't know the treasures that we have until we lose them. A fine tribute to a GREAT dad! Love & Blessings,

OH JANE...! SO TOUCHING AND HEARTFELT. INDEED, I KNOW, YOU CRIED WHEN YOU WROTE THIS...YOUR SINCERE, HONEST PHRASES FILLED WITH BITTER SWEET LOVE AND LOST TELLS ME SO. I DON'T THINK YOU HAVE TO WORRY, MY SISTER...NOT AT ALL. ONE THING A PARENT KNOWS IS THEIR OFFSPRING. HE KNEW HOW YOU FELT ABOUT HIM AND, AS A MAN OF GOD, HE PRAYED FOR YOU AND ACCEPTED YOU AS YOU WERE. WHY? BECAUSE HE LOVED YOU AND ONE DAY, KNEW, YOU'D SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN IN THAT ETERNAL LAND OF...PERFECTION. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS KEEPER SO GLAD YOU SHARED IT. I READ WITH MOIST EYES, AND VERY MUCH ENJOYED. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

My father was a laid back kind of guy, overshadowed by my dominated mother. I miss the goodness in him, but not her.

A very touching and beautiful tribute to your father, and something I think most of us can truly relate to after losing a loved one.

Sometimes I have a tough time reading your poetry because it tugs on my heartstrings so hard. You did a lot of things with him and he loved you very much. Forgiving? Yes he was. I know he's somewhere now and has continued to watch you grow, and I know there's a big smile on his face. You know I love you, Mom. I can't say it enough and I hope the whole world hears me. Be good to yourself. There's no one to be blamed for anything. All you need is love!

Jane - well stated.

We all feel that way about all Loved ones who have passed away.
If this is any consolation, perhaps they feel the same way about us.

It seems to me that there just isn’t enough time, not enough hours in
each day, to do all the things that we would like to do. Distractions,
Diversions, Interruptions, sometimes even Accidents.

We used to call them “Round Tuits” - when I get around to it !
If I had my “Druthers” ... I shoulda, woulda, coulda ...

If indeed “Love Conquers All” then it is a never ending reciprocation.
Know then that we are Forgiven, just as we have Forgiven others.

Pax Tecum ... 💚✌🏼💙
