An early Fathers day poem for my Dad, I miss him so much...

Poem Artwork

TO MY DAD…FOR DAD’S DAY…

Been without your sage and wisdom many a year,

When I was younger that would have been cause for a cheer,

Now I don’t ever visit your grave,

Too much pain and sorrow I would have to stave,

As well as to my job and life, I am a slave…

If you should see this poem in the great beyond, thru your travels,

Please don’t become like me, too unraveled,

As the mere thought of you, dear dad of mine,

The more I do remember the good old times,

Many there were, even though we both may balk,

Many a time we both did get to talk,

So many pictures I have of you and I on the beach for a walk,

I about two or three, you the proud daddy, did of the secrets of the sea, unlock…

Were you here today, instead of gone for fifteen years, hugs and yes, even kisses,

Would be the order of the day, even though we once said no way,

Times have changed, not only for me, but also for you, dear dad,

Mom is now with you as well as your mom and dad…

I hope your life, wherever it is you are residing is not so sad,

As mine can be if I think about you, no longer do I get mad,

Your passing was not your choice, in that you had no voice,

And I as your only son, should have, instead of being mad and sad,

                     REJOICED!

Ed,

It would seem that this is proof positive that we are never too old to learn....wisdom comes with time, pain, and growth - but also with love. Much love is reflected here. Wonderful remembrance my friend.

Ed.. it apears you've made peace with some old ghosts here and it has inspired a wealth of beauty in this sensitive, revealing and very affectionate poem. One need not look very far, though, to hear and know the great warmth of you tender heart. You are a lovely person, indeed. katy xox.

Ed, this was not only outstanding in a poets view, but superb in what has been overcome. Wisdom has now found its place, and you Ed, in this most dear write, you have exhibited true love and forgiveness. Wonderful Job dear sir.

Ed, a great tribute to your Dad, I know exactly how you feel I miss mine tremendously too, when my Dad died part of me seemed to go with him, that was back in 86 and I have never got over it.
