Behind the Jesters Face…

Could he be the romantic all prim, proper & lace?

Could he be the philosopher, so many questions to embrace?

Could he be the bookworm, books from Hemmingway, Poe and Cayce?

Could he be the teacher, the art he is teaching of the mace?

Could he be the artist, paintings of fruit and the vase?

Could he be an alien, just in from outer space?

Could he be a god, keeping track of the human race?

Could he be you or I, embrace do we the self, and hope for grace?

All those and more or less, so many that times forgot,

The jester could be just a jester as well, with a smile on his face, starting as a tot…

The jester does cry along with us all,

He speaks in rhymes and song, while playing all the while with a ball,

Time for us seems unending, interminable, and never to stall,

Time for a jester, is only time when he plays his part,

Might even have been the apostle Paul…

Who knows what lies behind ones outward demeanor?

Each of us can & have done whatever we wanted,

Maybe the grass on the other side is always greener…?

When you explore and write your depths, Eddie M, the honesty and courage to share is boundless. The interesting thing for me here is how you've managed to give seemingly straightforward words a tantalizingly cryptic delivery. This is good stuff! katy xox.

I think we know (especially this goes for poets), that the grass
always does appear greener on the other side, as we know that this
same grass, green as we mightfind it, can contain rusty nails and pieces of glass to cut us to shreds.
The "two faces of literature"...Happy, and Tragic...are embedded in
anyone who ever penned meaningful poetry.
I always find a hefty amount of meaning in yours, Ed, and this piece
is no exception.

Dear Ed,

"Behind the Jesters Face" often lies the most compassionate heart. The tear does roll silently, while the Jester keeps making others smile !!!

Take care Ed, great write.

Future: The Spiritual Story of Humanity by Glenn Martin

Histories of the world are generally written to either celebrate technology and science, or to herald doom. My book examines the path of the spirit in the onward rush.
