Blues: a philosophy of life
a philosophy of music
a life of philosophy
and music...

Poem Artwork

Blues…

Sometimes you get em’

Sometimes you don’t,

Sometimes you eat em’,

Sometimes you listen to em’

That’s for me, love the blues…

From light blues, to dark,

It be blues that makes me spark,

The lives we lead, sometimes oh so stark,

Put to words, many remarks…

Played the bass, tried lead,

Sang front, background,

Enjoyed getting around,

Played while doing weed and speed,

Thought they were where it’s at,

Drugs got me high, did nothing for my life,

But did for a time, make me forget my strife…

Blues can do the same,

Listen with your brain,

It can take away all strain,

Don’t ignore it; don’t let it wash down the drain,

The music is where its at, the guitar the gun,

The artist, the brightness of the sun…

Nice poem, Ed.

You might consider some greens on occasion;
Of course, they involve much less passion,
But poke salad greens with butter and vinegar--
Will help you get over your smashed guitar.

My favorite greens? It's always spinach for yours truly.
You might try them sometime instead of perfunctorily eating me.
In a pinch, mustard greens are pretty good with beans;
Oops! I nearly forgot the best of all--dandelion greens!

oooooo... I love listening to good blues, too, Eddie M. It's a way to voluntarily empty ourselves... like a cleansing. Fine piece you've penned... some wonderfully infectious rhymes. katy xox.
