Winter Bound…

Went to bed last night,

Cool out & in but I felt tight,

Warm and cozy in my bed so right,

Awoke this morning to shivering light…

Rufuz on “his bed”, the couch in winter,

So cute he looks sleeping there, his head on my printer,

Daddy, please move this thing off my bed,

Put it back where it belongs, seems that is what he said…

The days in the 80’s, the nights in the forty’s,

Wish I do it would stay this way year around,

But I guess we have no choice we are winter bound,

For now we are reeling from the nightly change,

Soon we will be kneeling, praying for a more warmer range…

But old Rufuz doesn’t mind,

The cold is his “cup of dog food”, so to speak,

The winter, with all his hair, of the year his time,

Even the heater is kicking on and off,

Set at 65, trying to avoid sickness, a cold and cough…

Just got used to the warm weather of summer,

Never was it stifling this year, lots of rain,

But over the summer I had enough Mary Jane,

Now with a new job on the horizon, I must abstain…

A cutie of a dog, a beauty of a poem! I felt myself just kinda relaxing and gettin' absorbed with this one, EM... that time of year? Perhaps. I'd say it's more that the phrasings and verses just felt very inviting. Stories of you and Rufie are most satisfying, indeed. Lovely piece! (Great pic! It looks very 'homey' in your little abode).
