Sometimes not an easy life, loving a poet, but the rewards are astronomical...

Poem Artwork

To Love a Poet…

One must love to live,

One must enjoy midnight writes,

One must understand poetry comes first,

One must realize a poet’s life is frugal at best,

One must have the knowledge of humor and jest…

For one to love a poet,

They have to really know it,

Know do they that a poet does become inspired,

Inspiration can be at anytime, during dinner, writing on a napkin,

While sleeping a poet can become inspired,

Vaulting out of bed, to his writing tablet he must go,

Before the thought does vanish, gone could be a poetry Van Gogh…

Thoughts they are quite fleeting,

The poet’s world is not for cheating,

Each poem has for its writer, a greeting,

Some do however have as well departure, yes leaving,

So many seem to convey feelings of darkness,

Some also do tell of that poet’s mornings, a day in the life,

As well as his life long yearnings and mourning’…

To love a poet, one must develop a passion,

That passion being for his/her personal poetry,

To love a poet, one must love them wholly without reservation…

I do believe there's a poet in your trying to get out sir!!!

Actually, if you really want a chuckle, try being a poet married to a writer of novels!! Now if that isn't nuts I don't know what is!! LOL But, hey, at least we understand those leaps out of bed at 2am to furiously pen down an idea. :)

Peace,

~Rose~
